Hi everyone, I thought I’d write a quick post today about networking within the legal field.
During university, I took it upon myself to participate in as many networking opportunities as possible. Whether this was in-person or online, I always found them extremely useful.
Firstly, these legal networking events hosted by law firms are a great opportunity to gain insight from current trainees. Many share their personal experiences of the day to day tasks and responsibilities of a trainee solicitor. Additionally, networking events strengthen interpersonal skills by building rapport with members of the firm. It is a chance to ask meaningful questions about the legal field, what sector of law they have specialised in and what they enjoy most about being a solicitor.
Joining these networking events are a great way to show you are proactive and serious about a career in law. It is a way for you to understand what it means to train as a solicitor, the duties involved, an insight into daily life at a law firm and an insight into a professional fast-paced environment.
Networking events cemented my passion and interest in law. They served as a great way to visualise myself working for a reputable firm and being part of meaningful legal projects. I’d recommend engaging in networking opportunities if you are studying law and want a real insight into life as a solicitor!
